About this residency
An 11-month, self-directed residency for Finnish and Finland-based artists at HIAP Suomenlinna. The program emphasizes time and support for developing new work in dialogue with the local art scene, with open-ended research and experimentation; there is no obligation to produce finalised work. Residency takes place in HIAP Suomenlinna atelier apartments with 24/7 access to HIAP community facilities on Suomenlinna. HIAP does not charge a fee and does not provide working grants/stipends, production budgets, or travel funding.
Application requirements
- Apply via the online application form (email submissions not accepted). Required materials include: (1) brief outline of professional background/biography (up to 500 words), (2) motivation statement (up to 500 words), (3) work plan (up to 250 words), and (4) portfolio/examples of previous work provided as an external link (max 10 images or 3 video/audio files).
