Artist-run gallery in central Göteborg (Linnéstaden), founded in 1954 and consisting of 321 artists, has managed Gallery 54 through its board since 1959. The gallery’s purpose is to give artists a space to present their work and ideas free from commercial influence. It functions as a meeting place for discussion and creativity. The board, elected annually in spring, oversees all operations, while a gallery host is employed during exhibition periods. Gallery 54 has been located in its current premises since 2005.

Focus: Contemporary art; artist-run programme with temporary exhibitions and alternative presentation formats (no permanent collection).
