About
Verkligheten is an artist-run gallery focused on contemporary art in Umeå. It mixes established and emerging artists, local and international perspectives, and welcomes experimental and collaborative initiatives; the program also includes talks and lectures. Founded in 2001 as a non-commercial association, its board is composed of artists living in and around Umeå. Operations are funded by Statens Kulturråd, Umeå Kommun and Region Västerbotten, and the gallery is part of the network Den Kollektiva Hjärnan.
Focus: Artist-run contemporary art exhibitions and experimental projects; mixes invited and applied exhibitions (established and emerging; local and international); hosts talks, lectures and collaborations; programs during exhibition periods (no permanent collection indicated).
