Galleria Uusikuvaan

Galleria Uusikuvaan is an exhibition space run by the Kotka Artists’ Association, housed in a 1910 Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) building on Satamakatu in the heart of Kotka. The gallery comprises two exhibition spaces, Luoto (41 m2) and Aava (105 m2), with large windows that bring natural light into the tall rooms. The space can also be darkened to accommodate video, audio, multimedia, and installation works, and is equipped with a video projector and speakers for multimedia presentations. Exhibition periods are typically about three weeks, with 2–4 days allocated for hanging/setup by agreement. The rental includes space supervision during opening hours, publicity, organizing openings, and space cleaning. For 2027, exhibition dates are decided by the exhibition committee and applicants are notified by the end of June. Luoto costs 400 EUR/month (300 EUR/month for Kotka Artists’ Association members); Aava costs 850 EUR/month (650 EUR/month for members); both spaces together cost 1250 EUR/month (950 EUR/month for members). A 20% sales commission applies. The 2027 exhibition blocks run monthly from January to December (e.g., Jan 8–30, Feb 5–27, Mar 5–27, etc.). Applications are invited as a single PDF named “galleriauusikuva_näyttelyhaku2027_hakijanimi” and should include full contact details, the desired space, a max 2-page exhibition concept, 3–5 images or sketches with captions, a video preview link, a CV summary, and any preferred dates.
