Pitted Dates

An independent exhibition platform and gallery located in the Teurastamo area of Helsinki. Founded in 2023 by curator Sakari Tervo, it initially operated in a vacant shopping mall kitchen before moving to a former two-room cold storage space (building R1s). Pitted Dates is dedicated to thoughtful, carefully curated group exhibitions that bring together emerging and established artists. A unique feature of the space is that each exhibition is accompanied by a newly commissioned poem, which functions both as a press release and as an independent artwork, placing the show within a poetic framework. The space is known for its "vibes-based selection" and experimental approach.
